I had to attend 3 lessons altogether (1 session each for English, Chinese and Japanese).
Today, i had finally completed the trials...
The 1st Lesson was in Japanese:
I simply had no clue what was going on until the lesson was about to end.
The Japanese teacher's name is Yumi. At the beginning, she will flash us some cards and sing at the same time. After which we gets our hands on some activities, eg, pouring beads into a cup, popping some soft furry balls into a cup, arranging some puzzles and pasting numbers to the correct items.
At times, she will flash us 1 card for 1-2 sec, then take 2 cards out and ask us to point to the card which she had just flashed! I got it right most of the time.
Though the songs were in Japanese, i did catch some of its meaning! Eg. Daisuki means Love.
Yumi Sensei say i was a good boy and was quite surprised that i could sit still and pay attention thru out the lesson.
The 2nd Lesson was in English.
I start to understand whats going on and when the teacher ask me to "high 5" i will respond.
The songs, cards and activities are quite similar to what its shown in the Japanese lesson. However this time i get to paste some stickers on a christmas stocking.
I love the Christmas Tree!
My pretty English Teacher!
My 3rd and final lesson is in Chinese.
Mummy kept forgetting its Chinese class and kept speaking English to me
The lesson is similar to the last 2 lessons, however its conducted in Chinese.
I am much more active and familiar with the sequences and could follow the instructions given. This time, we get to paste a small plastic bag at the back of the christmas stocking and also hang it up at the "fireplace" poster. My Chinese teacher then quickly slot in a small toy and told us to bring down the stockings.
I got a little Elephant toy.
Mummy hung my art piece on our X'mas tree!!
Me at my class...
My cute chinese teacher...
Look who's that...my pretty English teacher!
Yeah...i got a balloon from her
Playing around the center...
The lessons are fun...but mummy still considering whether to sign me up for 1 term as the fees are quite expensive!

Hi Karen, I chance upon your blog by clicking on your name in the comments box...wanted to reply via email. So, it is nice to see Lucas so tall and handsome! And fianlly I can put a face to your name too.
Hi Isabelle mummy, thanks for your compliment.
Your Isabelle is a really bright gal!! Lucas still can't read words yet.
Each child is different. I find that the "baby can read" programme is quite useful and effective. Perhaps you can consider that. I show her a lot of books though she has only a few favourites. This is the input stage...just read to him, talk to him, show him. He is learning and absorbing the information. Suddenly one day, he will be able to make use of this input and verbalise them. Are you working or a SAHM?
I am working. Lucas was taken care by his grandma until recently i put him in childcare.
I feel that at this stage he could absorb very quickly.
That's why we decided to put him in childcare to learn more things.
He could speak alot of words in English, Chinese and even understand abit of Malay (cos i had an Indonesia maid), however he can't read.
He can't sit still when i tried to read him books or flashcards, that's why i gave up on that.
I am too working and Belle is taken care of by my Mom. I am thinking of sending her to playschool for a few hours a day. But couldn't find any around her area. Wow, it seems that little Lucas is an eloquent child. He is probably stronger in listening and speech and so reading will come naturally. Why not try audio books like Ladybird Level 1? Maybe he will be fascinated by the narration?
Thanks for your recommendation.
How do i get the audio books? From Popular Bookstore?
I am now trying to cultivate his reading habits by bringing him to the library and reading bedtime stories to him. He is more attentive when i read him the book at bedtime.
It is great that Lucas is showing interest when you read to him. I think you can find them at all bookstores, just that Borders is having a great discount - 40% discount now. You can look for Ladybird Level 1 - The Enormous Turnip, Magic Porridge Pot, Goldilocks and 3 bears.
